ICBA Bancard Announces Launch of Visa Checkout to Clients

Visa Checkout, digital payment service, offers an easier way for consumers to pay online – no matter what device

Washington, D.C. (July 24, 2014)—ICBA Bancard, the payment-services subsidiary of the Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA), is pleased to announce that clients now have access to Visa Inc.’s (NYSE: V) new digital payment service, Visa Checkout, formerly known as V.me. Visa Checkout is the newest way ICBA Bancard clients can offer a streamlined online and mobile payment process to their customers.

“The Visa Checkout service is designed to add even more convenience and ease to the community banking experience as more customers realize the benefit of online and digital banking services every day,” said Noah Wilcox, ICBA Bancard chairman and president, CEO and chairman of Grand Rapids State Bank in Grand Rapids, Minn. “Visa Checkout offers our customers an easier way to pay online, and our participation helps our bank stay up to date with emerging payments functionality in the market.”

More specifically, Visa Checkout makes it easier to complete online or mobile purchases by:

  • reducing the payment experience to just a few clicks, eliminating the need to re-enter shipping and billing addresses;
  • offering a consistent, simple experience across desktop, mobile web and apps;
  • creating an experience that never requires shoppers to leave the merchant’s website to complete a purchase; and
  • providing the option to pay with any major debit or credit card.

Visa Checkout presents further opportunity for issuing banks to strengthen accountholder relationships by offering an innovative online payment experience to their customers. With advanced tools such as device fingerprinting and Visa Dynamic Network Analytics scoring, Visa Checkout is designed to reduce the risk of fraudulent transactions by authenticating customers before they make a purchase.

“ICBA Bancard is here to assist our client member banks with participation in Visa Checkout,” said Scott Broughton, ICBA Bancard senior vice president, director of card products and promotions. “Through participation, our community banks have the opportunity to include their branding within the Visa Checkout experience. It also makes for an easier checkout experience overall for the community bank’s cardholders. It’s a win-win.”
