ICBA Statement on Confirmation of Julian Castro
Washington, D.C. (July 11, 2014)—John H. Buhrmaster, chairman of the Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA) and president and CEO of 1st National Bank of Scotia, N.Y., and Camden R. Fine, ICBA president and CEO, today released this statement following the confirmation of Julian Castro as secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
“ICBA congratulates Julian Castro on his confirmation to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
“Mayor Castro has shown leadership in his three terms as mayor of San Antonio. ICBA looks forward to working with him during his tenure at HUD to continue to promote community bank access to HUD and Federal Housing Administration programs that support locally based mortgage lending.
“ICBA thanks Secretary Shaun Donovan for his service at HUD and wishes him the best as he takes over at the White House Office of Management and Budget.”
