Washington, D.C. (Feb. 12, 2014)—The Independent Community Bankers of America’s® (ICBA) released the following statement following today’s release of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity.

"ICBA welcomes the cybersecurity framework released today by the National Institute of Standards and Technology at the direction of President Obama. The NIST has worked with the banking and financial sectors to establish a voluntary framework that reflects current cybersecurity best practices to strengthen our nation’s security infrastructure, which is a top priority for the nation’s community banks.

“As our nation faces growing cybersecurity risks, today’s report comes at a crucial time and will help the public and private sectors address these challenges.
