Since the Fed extended its pledge to keep interest rates "exceptionally low" through 2014, portfolio managers have debated what that will mean to yields. There currently is a divergence of opinion between Fed Funds Futures and the rest of the bond market. We will review the path of interest rates in 2012, discuss what the numbers predict for the future, and highlight certain securities that appear to offer value in this environment. We will also discuss new tools available to manage the municipal segment of the portfolio.
