Aleis Stokes is senior vice president of media and public relations for the Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA), the nation’s voice for more than 6,000 community banks.

Stokes joined ICBA in 2008 as director of media relations. In her current role as senior vice president, she is responsible for managing key aspects of ICBA’s communications department, including shaping and communicating the association’s messaging and its key policy priorities and promoting the positive mission of community banks and their vital role in serving America’s local communities. A passionate advocate for Main Street community banks, Stokes has been featured in NPR, Yahoo! Finance, Richmond Times-Dispatch and the Christian Science Monitor.

Before joining ICBA, Stokes served as a public affairs specialist for the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), where she was responsible for media relations and public affairs efforts, with a heavy focus on leading the association’s financial literacy initiatives. While at MBA, Stokes also served as communications chair for HOPE NOW, the industry-created alliance to help homeowners avoid foreclosure.

Stokes holds a Bachelor of Arts in advertising and public relations from The Pennsylvania State University. She earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America in 2012.
