Senior Vice President, Legislative Counsel
Brian Cooney is senior vice president and legislative counsel for the Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA). He advocates the interests of nearly 6,000 community banks of all sizes and charter types with Members of Congress about the impact of proposed legislation on their communities, their constituents and the local economy.
Cooney has 30 years of experience in representing the business interests of various organizations before the U.S. Congress, including homebuilders, CPAs, mortgage banks and community banks. He received a BS in finance from Villanova University, a JD from George Mason University and a LLM in Securities Law from Georgetown University.
